”Many things we need can wait. But the child cannot. Now is the time his bones are being formed, his blood is being made and his senses are being developed. To him, we cannot answer tomorrow. His name is today” - Gabriela Mistral.
Children are endowed with a keen sense of perception to observe everything around them in the contemporary, dynamic society. Guru Nanak Public School is the ground that sows the seeds of rationalization and maturity. It is an institution where the expectations and dreams of students are fulfilled, where the creative minds meet professional faculty, where learning is a life-time experience! In short, where buds blossom into flowers.

Apart from the academics, sports and co-curricular activities, due emphasis is laid on character building, personality and value education. It has a universal approach towards all religions.
The love for mankind, humanity, feelings of universal brotherhood and other moral values are an integral part of the education. In India, now-a-days, education has become examination oriented. The heavy weight of the school hours and the curriculum has chained and bowed the restive and justful spirit of the children of India. The stunted, emaciated figures and the jittery faces have become synonymous with the school going children. And the innocence and the exuberance which they carry from their cradle to the backyards gets crushed. For that, the educational policy makers of India have to really sit and reframe the curriculum so as to give shape to the real meaning of education. Just remove the heavy encumbers from their shoulders, and all the jitters from their minds with soon vanish. Let the children regain the freedom to jump and play and that freedom and environment is provided by Guru Nanak Public School where activity based learning is emphasized in place of examination oriented one. The school organizes many co-curricular activities - moral, sports, literary cultural and religious; trips and excursions, etc along with academics so as to give maximum exposure to the kids and for development of their all round personality. Initiative, daring and enterprising outlook is developed in every student. Sports is an indispensable part of education here. After having a merry & challenging time in the playground, oozing with strength, stamina and zeal, these youngsters can face the realities and ordeals of the day to day life boldly. With a smile on the face and a song in the heart, reality can be more confidently dealt with. In the lap of nature, in the refreshing outdoors, the physique of the children attain its full flowering.
The school has an excellent infrastucture for sports facilities for Cricket, Basket ball, Badminton, Handball, Tennis, Football and Softball. Participation in Inter & Intra School matches is a routine feature and GNPS feels proud of its ever-energetic sportspersons who bring laurels to the schools from time to time - be it be a U.T. level or a national event. An ultra modern basketball court with mosaic flooring and fibre glass boards is a symbol of our constant endeavour for progress in the sports area. The school provides coaches for specialized training to the students. A Cricket Academy with a competent coach has also been set up in the school. the students also have the opportunity to enroll in the Air & Naval wing of NCC. To inculcate the values of camaraderie, self-dependence, sharing and caring for one another, students are sent on regular educational and camping trips. To build up a good physical & mental health, Yoga is a part of morning assembly. With the new skating rink of international standards and a gym coming up in the school Campus, the children get the diversified knowledge and opportunities to prove their nascent talents.
Realizing the importance of the role of extra-curricular activities as a contributing factor towards the development of a child in totality, the school is divided into 4 houses named after the personalities whose lives have been inspirational - Bhai Vir Singh House, General Hari Singh Nalwa House, Maharaja Ranjit Singh House and Ravindra Nath Tagore House. Many activities like debates, declamations, extempore, poetry recitation, dumb, charades, dance and song competitions, quiz, exhibitions, Gurbani - Kanth Competition, Shloka ucharan competitions, celebration of various important days and a lot more are organized from time to time.
To give our toddlers a sense of freedom and an identity of their own, a separate primary section building for classes pre-nursery to Class VI has been constructed. The pleasing countenance of the building with all modern amenities and its beautiful landscaping combined with child-friendly classrooms provide a perfect nurturing ground for children. A special feature of the school is a full time counselor to provide professional help to students to decipher and handle problems. Counselling has been token beyond the portals of the school in the form of Parent-out-Reach programme which has been very successful. Various seminars & workshops are also organized for students and teachers. If you are looking for a second home for your wards, the hostel of GNPS is highly recommended. Surrounded by lush green lawns and natural forestation, it provides a perfect ambience for a child to grow up as a complete personality. The hostel which has provision for 55 boys and 55 girls with all the basic facilities like neat clean rooms, a large dining hall, recreation rooms is ably managed by a warden and a matron. Nutritious and well balanced meals, supervised study periods, recreational activities and celebrations of important festivals all form a part of Hostel life. The school has a day boarding facility for juniors. Mobile phone equipped transport covers Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali. Special concessions for weaker sections of Society are given. Scholarships are given for academics and sports. And the credit goes to the strong driving force of the school, i.e. all highly qualified and dedicated staff members who as a team are always striving towards perfection and bringing out the best in the budding flowers in GNPS. Our message for all children is - Work hard attain full knowledge have self-confidence and above all faith in God to attain success. A possible attitude can see you through the most trying times and with zealous and relentless efforts towards your goal, victory will surely be yours. Patience, perserverance, will power, determination, confidence and courage are the sterling qualities of mind which are indispensable in the struggle of life. Strong will power can move mountains. It can work miracles. As a Chinese poet puts in beautifully.
“Reach the ninth heaven to embrace the moon,
or the five oceans deep to capture a turtle, either is possible.
Return to merriment and triumphant songs.
Under this heaven, nothing is difficult,
Only if there is the will to ascend.”
Ms. Gurnam Kaur Grewal
Principal
